Membership in this Association is based on requirements approved by Association members. There is only one membership category, which includes legal assistants who are working under the direct supervision of an attorney; students and graduates of legal assistant programs; attorneys or paralegal educators; and persons acting, or who have acted in the past, in a legal assistant capacity. All members may vote and hold office in the Association.

CLA/CP Scholarship
MALA promotes the CLA/CP and ACP designations by awarding two scholarships ($275.00 for the CLA/CP scholarship and $250.00 for the ACP scholarship) during our Annual Seminar and Meeting in August of each year. Applicants must be a MALA member in good standing and must have been a MALA member for one full year before they apply. Other eligibility requirements and instructions for applying for these scholarships are outlined in the attached PDF files.
